Giant Fuyu is a very large hybrid of the Fuyu and Jiro. The Giant Fuyu Persimmon tree ripens in November and is non-astringent. Benefits from 100-200 Chill Hours. Tree becomes adorned with glossy orange persimmons in mid fall. Easy to grow and self-fruiting; great cross pollinizer for other persimmon varieties. The fruit is a dark orange color when ripe and has a delicious smooth texture. Fruits are larger than regular Fuyu with flavors reminiscent of pumpkin pie.
Non-astringent cultivars have lost their astringency by maturity and can be eaten crisp like an apple or at various stages of softness.

Oriental persimmon: looks like tomato, 3" diameter, skin - deep orange, flesh - light orange, very few seeds. Non-astringent, eaten crisp like an apple or soft. Self fertile, orange with light orange flesh. Medium sweet taste. Pest free, hardy attractive, firm, non-astringent. Most popular non-astringent variety in US and Japan.

Gwang Yang persimmon tree is from Korea, many of the Korean persimmons to have a high degree of cold tolerance. The tree is dwarf and comes into bearing early. The fruits are non-astringent, bright orange, high quality fruit weighing about 6 oz. Fruit ripens late October through mid November. The fruits are large and seedless.

Maekawa-Jiro (or Makawa) produces large, seedless persimmons with conical shape. They are firm and crunchy, with the sweet taste of fresh sugar cane. The time to pick is when the fruit turns orange and the flesh is still firm, like an apple. Non-Astringent. Fruiting time in September.
Maekawa-Jiro persimmon tree is a small grower, the trees rarely exceed 12 foot in height. A uniquely cold-hardy tropical tree. Excellent pest- and disease-resistance. This tree will also suffer heat, drought and humidity without flinching. Self-pollinating, but will produce more/larger fruit with a Jiro or Fuyu nearby. Fruit ripens mid-October through mid-November.

Matsumoto is slightly larger and rounder than Fuyu. Non-astringent. Ripens slightly earlier in Late-October to Mid-November. Excellent variety, both for commercial and backyard production.
Matsumoto is a moderate growing tree and fruit bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 10 feet to 15 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted soil that is well drained. It is resistant to drought, insects, diseases and heat.
