The dwarf variety, which grows to 8 feet, is the most common backyard variety. The fruit is excellent tasting and can remain on the plant until ripe.

Condo mango. Alampur Baneshan originated in South India and is considered as one of the finest dessert mangoes in the country. The fruit are large, averaging 14 to 16 oz. They are oblique-oblong. The skin color is green, even when ripe, and is overlaid with characteristic corky dots covering the fruit surface. As with most other fine dessert mangoes of India, it is best harvested hard-green and ripened at room temperature. In this manner one can expect an exceptional, multi-leveled flavor, from the deep and resinous to the intensely sweet. This is a mango for the true connoisseur, not the beginner, as its flavor could prove to be overpowering to the unaccustomed palate. The fruit are uncommon outside of India and it is improbable that they will enter into international export markets.

Very rare white powder-puff. Large bushy shrub with spectacular white flowers during spring-summer. The plant is relatively cold hardy. Fast growing.

Peach tree UF One (UF Sun) is very low-chill Peach. Needs only 100-150 chill-hours, so it can be grown in zone 10. Early season peach designed to flourish in warm climates. Red-yellow skin with very sweet yellow flesh. Ripens early-May. Self-pollinating.

Medinilla has bright pink flowers and can be grown as a small shrub or a potted plant. Very tropical-looking exotic plant.

This Black colocasia is a must for black plant fanatics. It has large matte black, heart shaped leaves on black/purple leaf stalks. As with most elephant ears, moist soil and high nutrition are the keys to great specimens. In shade leaves turn dark green. Once moved to bright sun, they turn back to black. In cooler subtropical climates leaves die back and the plant emerges from a rhizome in spring.

Low-chill Peach. Needs only 200 chill hours. Red-yellow skin with very sweet non-melting yellow flesh. Ripens mid-May. Self-pollinating.

Lady of the night. Medium size bush with large white or cream-colored flowers, which are very fragrant after dark. Shade tolerant plant, can be grown in container and as indoor plant. Can take some freeze for short time.

Tropical Barbie Pink. Considered by many to be one of the best guavas for the home garden. This highly productive cultivar produces pear-shaped, yellow skinned guavas with thick, pink flesh. Lower in pectin than other varieties, this variety is superior for eating out-of-hand or processing into juice. In spite of its common name, the tree is cold hardy for a tropical fruit. Very reliable, heavy producer. Will fruit in container.
Ruby Supreme and Barbie Pink guava are very similar, but Barbie pink is much larger and not as dark of a pink color.

Winter Mexican variety is one of most cold hardy varieties, Guatemalan x Mexican origin. Mature trees may withstand temperatures in the mid 20s. Oblong fruit, 12 to 18 Oz, thick green skin, medium seed. Tree bears in December-January. Very vigorous tree, bears heavily and regularly.

Nam Doc Mai is a premium cultivar introduced to Florida from Thailand in 1973 where is is one of the most popular varieties. This variety is semi-dwarf and great for pot culture. Green to yellow skin, no fiber whatsoever, multiple crops possible. Eaten green or ripe, a Thailand favorite. It is hands down the most sought after of the Asian mangoes and for good reason. A great feature of this variety is that the branches bloom occasionally at different times, giving you an extended ripening season during the summer.

Merremia dissecta, Ipomoea sinuata, Convolvulus dissectus. Alamo Vine, White Convolvulus, Woodrose. Origin: South America. Alamo Vine is an unusual white perennial Morning Glory that opens around noon and then closes before sunset. Leaves are feathery that makes it an attractive ornamental vine, with fine texture and fast but compact growing habit, great for containers or trellises. Seeds germinate readily.

Cherry of the Rio Grande, Eugenia involucrata. Small multi-branching tree or shrub. In the spring it is one of our early flowering tropical fruits and often blossoms in the first part of March. Blooming and fruiting season continues for several months into Summer. The delicious cherry, beautiful dark red to purple, produced soon after flowering. When ripe the the fruit can turn almost black and have a full cherry-like flavor. The plan is ideal for limited space landscapes since it can be kept as a bush or even as a container specimen and still produce adequate quantities of fruit. A relatively hardy plant, it can tolerate as low as low 20's F when mature.

Lancetilla is Central American Mango. One of the largest mango fruit, up to 5 pounds. Excellent flavor. Ripe fruit are blood red, fiberless. Semi-dwarf tree. Fruit ripens August-September.

This mango is a cross of a Kent and Bombay and inherited the finest features of each variety: the large size and gorgeous yellow/red color of the Kent; and the excellent, exotic flavor of the Bombay. 'Jakarta' is a virtually fiberless selection of good eating quality and consistent production. When fully ripe the skin will turn deep orange to red and display numerous white dots. Consistent producer. To determine when to pick, look for yellowing on lower half of fruit. Relatively cold hardy variety.
