Michelia Figo, Banana Magnolia. Spring-blooming, heavily scented, cream flowers streaked with purple. The banana shrub is so called because of the distinctive, sweet banana scent of its flowers. Sad tree, Night Jasmine, Parijat. This exotic small tree or shrub from India has highly perfumed flowers and is one of the most desired fragrant plants. Mythology says the plant came to earth with God Krishna, leading to a quarrel between his wives, or that it grew from a heartbroken princess's ashes, shedding flowers like tears before dawn.
The tree grows 5-10 feet tall, and prefers full sun or partial shade with moderate water.

Golden shower tree, Indian Laburnum - To many tropical gardeners, the most beautiful of cassias is Cassia fistula. This is a medium to large tree with ovate, pointed leaflets; when these drop, usually in the dry season, masses of bright gold flower clusters appear on almost every branch. This tree drops leaves in fall/winter.

Pagoda Flower, Orange Tower Flower. The flowers within the pyramid shaped cluster are tiered, like a Japanese pagoda. Very showy landscape shrub.

Melodorum siamensis, Rauwenhoffia. A small tree closely related to Ylang Ylang, with smaller flowers, greenish in color and highly scented. A single flower fills the air around (feet away) with pleasant perfume, thus the plant has a high value and is often used in Asian gardens.

Climbing Ylang-Ylang, Manorangini, Hara-champa, Kantali champa. A brother of a famous Artabotrys hexapetalus, this plant can grow as a large woody vine or trimmed as a shrub. Flowers are very fragrant, with lemon-like scent.

A fast-growing woody climber with clusters of pink, white, and yellow blooms that carry a strong, fruity fragrance. The petals are frilly and eye-catching, followed by quirky three-winged seed pods that spin like tiny helicopters. Blooming heavily in winter and early spring, it perfumes the garden when most plants are resting.

Vietnamese Mickey Mouse plant, Hoa Mai, Mai Vang. Traditional Vietnamese New Year plant. The spectacular yellow flowers of this plant make it very popular in southern Vietnam, where the plant is purchased during Lunar New Year.
In Vietnamese, the variety of O. integerrima whose flowers have five petals is called Mai Vang (yellow mai), whereas Mai Nui (mountain mai) flowers have between five and nine petals.
A must for exotic plant collection, this is a rather slow growing, medium size shrub that can be trained into miniature tree. In winter the plant is covered with pretty bright yellow flowers, believed to bring good luck and prosperity. They are followed by cute shiny black berries on bright red sepals that resemble the face of Mickey Mouse. The plant is easy to grow and relatively cold hardy (to light freeze).

Duranta repens - Golden Dewdrop. The popular name of this large erect shrub is inspired by the clusters of bright orange-yellow berries that follow the flowers, in such quantities that they often cause the slender branches to droop gracefully. The lavender-blue or white flowers appear in loose clusters, and both berries and blossoms are often seen on a plant. This evergreen fast growing shrub spreads and arches to 10 feet tall and wide and is great for live hedges and covering fences and corners.

Jasminum sambac Arabian Knights (Arabian Nights). Rare variety of Jasmine Sambac with small double flowers and vining habit. Slow, compact grower.

Dwarf Pelican flower, Calico flower. Easy to grow, fast growing vine with curious flowers, relatively cold hardy (to some frost). Flowers are similar to A. gigantea, but smaller size (4-5").

Clerodendrum minahassae (minahasse), Fountain Clerodendrum -eautiful free branching shrub with clusters of white fragrant flowers, resembling fountain. Fast growing. Rare plant. Another spelling: Clerodendrum minahasse.

Dwarf Ylang-Ylang, small tree or shrub with highly scented flowers. This is one of the most desired and sought after rare fragrant plants. It is pretty easy to grow, stays compact and in nice tree-like shape. Flowers smell as great as full size Ylang Ylang tree, although sometimes fragrance may be less intense and requires warm and humid conditions for full aroma. The plant blooms year round providing warm conditions. It can be also grown as a container and a house plant, but keep in mind it requires bright light for profuse flowering.
This plant is seasonally sensitive: during cooler months leaves may drop or get yellow/dark spots. New leaves will regrow with warm temperatures (above 70F). It is still available for purchase but do not order if leaves appearance matters to you.

Weeping Blue Ginger, Blue Pendant. Unusual zinger-looking perennial with dark green foliage with arching stems. Heads of dark electric-blue flowers top tall, jointed stems with glossy heavy leaves faintly banded silver and toned purplish-blue beneath. Rare color for tropics!
