Oro Negro means black gold in Spanish, which is an incredibly appropriate name for this fruit. It originates from Miami-Dade County, Florida and has great potential for dooryard or commercial use. It is likely a Monroe seedling having a similar shape and season, but probably crossed with a Mexican type which would explain the black skin. The flesh is rich and buttery with a creamy texture that is sure not to disappoint.

Grand Nain (often misspelled "Gran Nain") is one of the most productive and widely grown dessert bananas in the world. Australian Tree fern - one of the most tropical looking plants. Adds "Hawaii" spirit to your garden. It puts on growth very quickly. The fronds typically will reach about 8' long on a mature specimen, but, as with most tree ferns, they will be significantly stunted if kept in a pot. It will grow well in dappled (but not deep) shade, but also does well in some sun, even in hot climates, as long as the moisture supply is adequate. Governors plum, Madagascar Plum, Batoko palm - is a tropical or subtropical small shrubby tree. It is cultivated in tropical regions as a hedge plant and for its deep red acid fruits resembling small plums. The fruits are about one inch wide and can be eaten fresh or made into preserves. They are sweet and sour, with a texture and flavor similar to a plum. Fruits mature after one to two months from flowering.
The tree is easy to grow, self-fertile and doesn't require much care, not fussy about soil and very forgiving if you forget to water it.
Seeds germinate readily, but it takes a while until the seedling is ready to be transplanted into a big pot or in the ground, a few months.

Red Chinese Lantern. A rare weeping Hibiscus from Africa. The flowers are rscarlet ed, single, and faced-down like "Chinese lanterns." Spondias mombin, or Spondias purpurea var. lutea. Yellow fruit. Very popular aromatic fruit.
The Plant with Benefits! This fruit is surprisingly juicy and sweet, and has a unique pleasant flavor. Sometimes it is sold in frozen fruit sections of ethnic stores; however the fresh fruit is way more delicious! No wonder this is one of our hot sellers. The tree is very easy to grow and can thrive in almost neglect. In Caribbean, they even use sticks for creating live hedges - cuttings root easily. Very fast growing, and fruiting right away.

Purrple Haze, Ribbon Bush - very tough, cold hardy tropical perennial that survived in our garden two nights of 25F withut cold protection without any damage. Repotedly hardy to zone 8.
Purples and blues are colors that can be hard to obtain in the southern garden. Showy lavender flowers cover this plant abundantly, blooming from fall through winter, and then on and off during the rest of the year. The flowers have two lips; the upper lip is darker purple with white markings. Leaves are tough, succulent-like to touch, but wide and green. The plant looks very ornamental. Water occasionally. Great butterfly attractor! Does not require much watering, good border plant.

Rose Bud Jasmine, Everblooming Jasmine - a very rare jasmine with highly fragrant flowers. Blooms year round. Glossy leaves are very ornamental in contrast with dark pink buds and snow white flowers. This is a very vigorous plant that can cover a fence or pagoda in no time.

Italian jasmine. Jasmine oil is extracted from the flowers and is imported from India. It has a rich, warm, sweet scent. It is a middle note in perfumery.

Japanese Jasmine, Primrose Jasmine - very unusual jasmine with bright yellow double flowers. This is one of the most valuable plants in landscaping. It grows wonderfully in mass plantings, very fast growing, well-contollable by pruning. The more you cut it, the bushier it gets, forming a nice dense cloud of dark green foliage with yellow double flowers scattered like a bright cover. Use it mass plantings, as a small hedge or to trail over fences or walls, to cover unwanted views and ugly corners.

Fruit cocktail shrimp plant, golden lime colored bracts accented by bright red flowers crown. Very cold hardy tropical, like many of Acantheceae plants. It survived in our garden two nights of 25F hard freeze with no protection and no damage.

'Mallika' is a condo mango native to India. It is considered among the best of the new generation of Indian dessert mangos. The bright yellow fruit are a flattened oblong shape, with a rounded base and an irregular, non-waxy skin, and weigh from 10 to 18 oz. When properly ripened, the pasty, but completely fiber-free flesh is a deep orange, with an intensely sweet, rich and highly aromatic flavor with hints of citrus and melon. Fruit are harvested mature-green, before they break color on the tree and should be stored at a temperature of not less than 70F for 2 to 3 weeks for proper ripening. In this manner their ultimate eating quality will be achieved. The fruit can be refrigerated after complete ripening, but not before. Although best consumed out-of-hand, 'Mallika' also excels in juices and as dehydrated slices, with a distinctive honey flavor. The fruiting season is from late June to July. The tree is semi-dwarf and moderately vigorous, making it attractive to mango growers outside of India, who are always looking for new niche markets around the world. It has become a favorite due to its superb flavor, unparalleled disease resistance, and small but extremely productive habit.

'Okrung' is an excellent Thai cultivar introduced to Florida in 1973. Thai-cultivar, green-yellow fruit eaten while green. The fruit is traditionally served in Thailand in combination with sticky rice. One of the most popular varieties in Thailand. The fruit is very sweet, with the highest sugar content of any mango tested in Florida. It has a strong Indo-Chinese flavor and is somewhat fibrous. The fruit are small, hand in clusters and drop off the tree when ripe.
