The ESALQ Red Jaboticaba is a rare and exotic fruit tree originating from Brazil, named after the prestigious Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ), University of Sao Paulo. Grimal Jaboticaba - Peluda de Alagoas. Rare Jaboticaba introduced by Adolf Grimal. Sometimes known as the Giant Jaboticaba, it bears fruits that are larger than many Jaboticaba varieties. Has larger fruits with thick pulp and small seeds. Also notable that the fruits are mildly hairy and foliage may show a similar appearance. The trees are heavy producers, and will begin fruiting in 5 years. The tree fruits year round producing a lot of fruit.

Jaboticaba. One of the most popular native fruit of Brazil. Grape-like purple fruit with a thick skin and delicious melting pulp somewhat resembling Northern Black Currant in flavor. Small white flowers grow right on the trunk ("cauliflora" means "flowers growing on trunk). Trees grow very slowly and due to small leaves and dwarfish growth habit are often used as bonsai. Some old bonsai specimens can fruit.

Jack-edak is a highly recommended variety grown in TopTropicals garden from a seedling of Cheena (Jackfruit x Chempedak) that fruited for us within 3 years from planting. The fruit (20-25 inches size) is probably the best we ever tasted! It is super sweet, crunchy and has a rich, pleasant, excellent flavor. It has very little latex which makes it easy to handle when cutting up. The tree produces at the very base of the trunk, so you can prune it as short as you want. Our tree survived light frosts as well as 48 hours of 3ft flooding, with no damage!

Black Gold Jakfruit originated in Australia. The tree is vigorous and with regular pruning can be maintained at a height of 8-10 ft. The fruit is has narrow shape, weighting 14-20 lb. It has dark green color with sharp fleshy spines, which don't flatten upon maturity. The deep orange flesh is very soft, with strong flavor and aroma. The flesh easily removed from the fruit comparing to other cultivars. Fruit ripen in Fall in Florida.

Jackfruit (Jakfruit) Crispy. It is relatively low latex, crispy but not too crunchy, thick fleshed and very juicy. Will fruit in 2-3 years in optimal conditions.

Golden Pillow (Mong Tong) Jackfruit (Jakfruit) originated in Thailand. Considered one of the best Thai cultivars. The tree is small and easy manageable at a height of 8-10 ft. The fruit has blocky shape, weighting 8-10 lb. It has golden color with fleshy spines, which flatten and open as fruit matures. The golden color flesh is thick and crunchy. The flavor is mild and sweet with musky aftertaste.

HONEY GOLD: Can be maintained to small tree with pruning. Yellow to orange flesh, with a sweet, rich flavor. The fruit as basketball sized round when ripe and it fruits on the many limbs instead of just the leader. Compatible in texture and flavor to the Gold Nugget with a dwarf growth habit and fruit. Mid, July-Aug fruiting season.

Super Thai variety is crispy, fruit is very large, over 35-50 lb on average. Thai favorite.

Thai Globe (Kun Wi Chan) jakfruit (jackfruit) originated in Thailand.
Vigorous tree; annual pruning needed to maintain moderate size. The tree is a very heavy producer. Fruits are very large and have round shape. Fruit weight is 35-45lb. Moderately firm to soft yellow flesh has mild, pleasant flavor.

Jasmine Molle, Indian Jui - one of the strongest fragrance of all jasmines. Grows into a large multi-stem bush, or can be planted against trellis or fence. Can be trimmed for compact shape, nice container plant. Flowers have extremely heavy gardenia type scent.

Jasmine Sambac Belle of India (var. Elongata). Very popular variety with long narrow petals. In India, it also goes under name Mangalore Malli, Uduppii Malli, or Shankarapuram Malli. Everybody wants this one because it has such a fine structure and elegant flowers.

Jasmine sambac Grand Duke - The biggest flower variety, the Grandest of all Jasminum sambac. Flowers are 1-1.5 inch wide, triple, like little carnations. Blooms profusely from April through June, then sporadically during the year. Dark green leaves are very ornamental. This variety grows as a medium size bush, very slow growing. Trim regularly otherwise it may become leggy. Tolerates shade, great container plant, can be grown as indoor plant too, providing enough light. The more light, the more flowers you will get. Keep somewhat on dry side: sambacs don't like too much water and bloom better in dry conditions. If grown indoors, watch for insects (spider mites). Fertilize once a month during warm season.
