All parts of the plant emit a wonderful fragrance. The scent is somewhat fruity and consists of the smell of dry herbs, thyme, rosemary, and lavender all together. Once you touch it, you will be able to smell it for a few minutes. Unlike other plants from this genus that are mostly annuals, this plant is a perennial, semi-woody shrub. Bright, pink flowers bloom from spring to late fall. Needs very little care, and is a very fast grower. The only requirement is regular watering, when soil gets too dry, the plant wilts, but recovers easily once watered again. Keep the soil moist, and you will be rewarded with a great scent along your pathways. Can be used in sachets and herb pillows, it keeps its scent for a long time. It attracts lots of flying insects and butterflies. |

In some countries, it is considered a weed that is hard to control. Ageratum is widely utilized in traditional medicine systems where it grows continuously. In Brazil, an infusion is prepared with the leaves and/or the entire plant, and employed to treat colic, colds, fevers, diarrhea, rheumatism, spasms, and is also used as a tonic. It is also highly recommended for burns and wounds. In other countries in Latin and South America the plant is widely used for its antibacterial properties for numerous infectious conditions and bacterial infections. In Africa, ageratum is used to treat fever, rheumatism, headache, pneumonia, wounds, burns and colic. |
